Founded by Jay and Nancy Cooke, Nor’east Cleaners was built at its current location in 1969. Designed as a “state-of-the-art” facility with the most advanced cleaning and sorting equipment in the industry, it was recognized for its “outstanding” design and customer-friendly “one-hour services.”

Fuel cost in the 1970s made one-hour services impractical, but six days a week, same day service continued to set Nor’east Cleaners aside as a leader in customer-friendly services.

Forty years later, Nor’east Cleaners continued this tradition of excellence with the expansion to Manchester-by-the-Sea in 1990, and the launch of home delivery services in 1998. Home delivery now serves over 1,000 customers in towns that include Beverly, Hamilton, Wenham, Essex, Ipswich, and Newburyport as well as Cape Ann.

In Spring of 2005, expansion continued with a new Express store at Station Place on Railroad Avenue in Gloucester. This store features a drive–thru window and 24-7 valet, which dispenses your clothes in response to your credit or debit card and your PIN number. Station Place also offers our hallmark same day service six days a week.
